The Programme Committee invites authors to submit abstracts
for consideration
for inclusion in the programme. Only original material will be considered.
Submission of abstracts starts by October 2004 and implies
that the author(s)
accept(s) the conditions
laid down, including any conditions relating to
transfer of copyright, and agree(s) to abide by the deadlines specified. All abstracts must be in English.

Only posters, publication is on the ESC website , no review process, late
submission permitted!Please use the special formular for "Ongoing Trials" or the
SP 1.1 to submit your abstract.

Abstracts may only be submitted via Internet.
Avoid submitting your
abstract at the" last minute" which has proved to cause
overload difficulties with the server/database!
Abstracts should contain original material only, which has not been published elsewhere!
The
background and the goals of the study should be apparent clearly to the reader.
The
methods and
results must contain original data and the conclusions must be clearly expressed.
All abbreviations must be defined the first time they appear in your text.
Example: Transcranial Doppler (TCD),
before being used as an abbreviation only.
Avoid
complex mathematical formulae. For the plus minus symbols, type +/- instead of
±.
Avoid Greek letters and symbols. Instead of 'IFN-'
use for example 'IFN-g' or 'IFN-gamma'.
When
preparing your abstract, bear in mind that it will not only be read by experts in your
field
but also by colleagues who may not be familiar with your topic.
Abstracts submitted by fax will not be accepted.

should be preformed using your text
editor directly on the formular space
indicated by means of US/West European
script language.

"Platform"
preferred implies that your abstract will be considered for
poster presentation as well as for the platform programme.

Oral Sessions: Platform presentations will be of eight
minutes duration followed by
a two minutes discussion period.
Poster Sessions: Posters will be displayed in two
sessions and authors must

Each abstract will be reviewed anonymously by 4 members of the
Scientific Committee. There is a range of 10 points
for rating 0 = worst and 10 = best. The assessment goes by the following principles:
0-1-2- points
for originality of work (background relevance, hypothesisgeneration)
0-1-2- points
for methodology (degree of complexity, novelty,etc)
0-1-2- points for data presentation
(details, statistics, clarity)
0-1-2- points
for clinical/scientific relevance (as described in theconclusions)
0-1-2- points
for overall presentation (please consider that this predictsthe
final form of presentation either orally or as a poster(preferred ways areindicated)).
The mean average value from the 4
ratings will be calculated.
As a rule, an abstract is accepted
with a mean average value of >= 5.5 points and rejected with a mean
average value of < 5.5 points. The limit of the mean average value (>=5.5
points accepted; <5.5 points rejected) can vary!

ID is absolutely necessary in order to confirm your receipt of submission without it
isn't sure wether the abstract has come in!

In order to submit abstracts online or via SP 1.1
an e-mail address is obligatory. Correspondence includes
all notification letters that inform the "Corresponding Author/Presenter" of the
status of their abstract. This is the best way for us to contact you,
so it is important that you enter your e-mail address accurately! Please let us
know if there are any changes!

The ESC - Submission-Programme SP 1.1 will guide you through the process of
submission step by step. Please don`t forget to save
the data on a floppy disk especially if you want to interrupt your work and/or
continue on a different PC.
Please start with:
1. "Author Details": Please enter details about the first
author and save it. Please write : Michael Wonderful instead of MICHAEL
WONDERFUL. This is necessary!
2. "Abstract Details": Please give details about the abstract and the co-authors
and save it. This is necessary!
3. "Abstract": The abstract may not have more than 1800 characters! Please save
it! This is necessary!
4. "Table": Complete the table available if a table is necessary!
5. "Graphic": Only jpeg, gif and bmp formats are possible - maximum size:
400 KB.
After a final check, which will show you if you have omitted any necessary
data,
press the send button to activate your e-mail programme.
If there are problems with your e-mail programme please copy the data from the
floppy disk and send it to: Submission@eurostroke.org
You will receive a confirmation e-mail.

Please send the abstract only once and not repeatedly!

Last check
After having submitted your material you'll receive a letter with the data provided. Confirm the originality of your abstract
and get your Abstract Identification (Abstract ID) by pressing the
confirmation button .
Your AID is confirmation of submission!

Confirmation
Finally, you are asked to enter a password along with
your e-mail address and
last name. Please enter the same text as you did previously in the
online registration form and press the send button. You will find your
Abstract ID, the password and the abstract title below. Please print
or/and save it.

Your Abstract
ID is absolutely necessary and needed in order to confirm your submission, without it
isn't sure wether the abstract has arrived!
It also enables you to correspond with the ESC office at any time during the
review process.
